From September 15 to October 15 we commemorate the influence and contribution that our beloved Hispanic Community has had to North American society. In this special edition of La Isla Magazine, we join the great celebration of the month of Hispanic Heritage, admiring history, music, cuisine, and all the Hispanic and Latin tradition that identifies us. If you are looking for an original and educational way to celebrate this date, here is a list of recommended movies and TV shows:

1.“My Identity is a Superpower – Not an Obstacle” (TED Talk): American actress América Ferrera, of Honduran descent , tells us her story in this 14-minute talk, in which she shares some of the difficult circumstances she went through as a Latina actress in Hollywood.
2.”Gentefied” (Series): This series addresses the reality of a Latin neighborhood in Los Angeles. His characters show us different points of view and reflection on what it means to pursue dreams in the United States without losing the Latino identity.
3.”What Being Hispanic and Latinx Means in the United States” (Ted Talk): the speaker Fernanda Ponce describes how Hispanics and Latinos have influenced the politics, culture and economy of the United States. His story challenges preconceptions and stereotypes while inviting the audience to learn more about the Hispanic and Latino experience in this country.
4.”On My Block” (series): This series emphasizes how friendship, love and Hispanic customs help form the personality and character of people in today’s society, which is more diverse and more complicated.
5.“In The Heights” (Movie): Fusing Latin rhythms and dance with hip-hop lyrics, this musical film tells a compelling story of what it means to pursue our dreams while holding on to our roots and celebrating the community we’ve come into. born and grown
